Research activities

Scientific achievements of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy are widely represented in Ukraine and abroad.

During 2018-2023 years, scientists of the faculty published 376 articles (138 of them are indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science), 19 patents, 529 theses of Ukrainian and international scientific conferences.

 There are two scientific schools at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, which are distinguished by a high level of research and support continuity in the development of Ukrainian chemical science:

To ensure the training of applicants at high educational, educational and methodological, scientific levels, conducting fundamental and applied research at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of Odesa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov together with the Institute of Physics and Chemistry named after O.V. Since 1997, the chemical-pharmaceutical educational-scientific-production complex of double subordination (joint order of the Ministry of Education and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine No. 382 dated 27.10.97, No. 257 dated 6.11.97).

The main priority areas of scientific activity of the faculty

  • Coordination chemistry of metals with organic molecules. Patterns of complex formation and polymerization as a basis for the development of modern chemical materials.
  • Development of theoretical foundations, methods and means of protecting people and the environment from the consequences of anthropogenic action.
  • Physico-chemical properties of substances with anti-inflammatory properties; their identification and establishment of the spectrum of pharmacotherapeutic activity.
  • Development of colloidal and chemical methods of concentration of toxic components of solutions.
  • Concentration, separation and determination of small amounts of inorganic substances in objects of various natural origins.
  • Synthesis, properties and use of acenaphthene and its transformation products, porphyrins and their metal complexes, b-diketonate type metallopolymers.

Industry sector and problems: The journal publishes original research articles in different fields of chemistry, including inorganic, analytical, coordination, organic, bioorganic, physical, colloid, and interdisciplinary chemistry, as well as related sciences.
